Life Is Hard

In recent weeks, I've had people very close to me going through some very difficult things, including two friends who have been diagnosed with cancer. And I've been painfully reminded that life is hard... Sometimes, it is just so hard.
While reflecting on that thought, I remembered the scripture in Matthew where Jesus said: "Come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Notice Jesus didn't say, "Come to me, and I will take all of your problems away," or "Come to me and I will make your life easy." No. He said, "Come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Rest isn't the absence of storms in our lives. Rest is the steadiness in the storm.
The promise was never a problem-free or easy life. The promise was his presence.
And sometimes, the miracle isn't that the storm stops. The miracle is that our soul stops panicking. That we can breathe. That we can stand. That we can endure the storm. That's the anchor.
If you're walking through a tough season right now, please don't wait for everything to calm down before you seek God. Go to him now. He will help steady your boat.
And when that happens, it changes everything.
